Small Town Ice Cream Shop

July 15, 2026

Today we did something out of the ordinary. We had a few unused coupons for our local ice cream shop. So for no reason at all, we hopped in the car and went out for a treat.

I used to stress out about ice cream. I needed baby wipes and everyone got a dish and spoon with their cone for when the melting started.

Now I embrace the drippy, melty mess. T-shirts can be washed, faces can be wiped, but nothing can replace the memories of ice cream melting into a puddle.

I remember distinctly once as a kid when my older brother bit the bottom off his cone, just for fun. It was messy but memorable.

So while I don’t have anything against baby wipes, I don’t stress about the mess anymore.

I cherish these short years when my kids will still be young enough to make a mess with their ice cream.
